Built Buses is North America's leading bus manufacturer, offering a full line of
school, commercial and specialty buses to value-minded buyers. More than one
third of the school buses on the road today are Thomas Built Buses. From its
manufacturing facilities in High Point, North Carolina, Thomas produces more
than 15,000 buses per year.
Thomas Built Buses manufactures three different types of buses: Type C conventional buses, Type D transit-style buses for longer routes and increased seating capacity, and smaller Type A Minotour buses. In addition, Thomas manufactures commercial overland coaches and specialty vehicles.
Thomas Built Buses is a member of Daimler Trucks North America LLC, the largest heavy-duty truck manufacturer in North America. Daimler Trucks North America LLC is a Daimler company. Thomas Built Buses are custom designed and built for every customer and are sold through independently-owned dealers throughout North America.
Edwin H. Davis & Son can take members of your district on a factory tour. Highlights of the tour include a guided visit through the Type A & D factory, where the very first Thomas Built Bus was produced. From there, it is on to the testing facilities where Thomas Built Buses performs critical analysis on many different components. Included in this area is the joint strength test, where the strength of our bonding adhesive met 100% joint strength! We finish up the tour at the $40 million dollar, state of the art C2 factory where you will see how a bus is assembled. The C2 factory was featured on the Travel Channel's "Made In America with John Ratzenberger". Mr. Ratzenberger was impressed and we believe you will be too. Please call our dealership for details on this exciting opportunity. We can be reached Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at 1-800-282-3597.
Edwin H. Davis & Son, Inc., would like to thank our latest tour group: Lancaster City School District & Nelsonville-York City School District.
